The context
CentralSquare’s public-safety and government software supports high-pressure, time-sensitive work. I reviewed Centralline’s usability and explored how document and data tools could make complex information easier to work with.
My role & contribution
As Lead Designer, I led the Centralline audit across user needs, accessibility, interface consistency, and operational workflows. I also designed and developed functional prototypes in Python, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, combining UX decisions with hands-on application development.
The approach
I assessed dispatch, incident reporting, and records workflows, including validation, errors, and user confirmations. In the prototypes, I kept documents or visualizations alongside questions and contextual guidance so teams could review how AI would support a specific task.
What I produced
- Centralline audit covering usability, accessibility, and design-system alignment
- Building-plan exploration combining maps, PDF extraction, and conversational questions
- Visual analytics and investigative-data prototypes with summaries and contextual Q&A
- Permit-assistant prototype connecting document viewing, guided form entry, and PDF output
The resulting work
The audit gave product teams a concrete basis for prioritizing design improvements. Working prototypes made proposed capabilities reviewable beyond static mockups, demonstrating how I connect product design, application development, and practical AI.
The AI applications are presented as prototypes and explorations; production release and measured impact have not been established.
